Jean Doherty
Jean qualified as a midwife in 2014 and works in a Maternity Hospital in Dublin. Jean completed her MSc (Research) in 2019 with a Participatory Action Research study exploring Burnout among Midwives in Ireland. With diplomas in hypnobirthing and Reiki, Jean is passionate about the maternal power of the mind and body for birth.
Jean has worked as a Research Midwife for the Joint Research Network (JRN) since 2017 and is the current Co-Chair. The JRN is a collaborative network of clinical and academic midwives from The NMH and Dublin and South East partners, and the University of Dublin (UCD), who support and undertake midwifery related research. Since then, Jean has become an Occasional Lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Health Systems in UCD.
Jean has worked on research projects in the areas of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, birth satisfaction, staff wellbeing, Labour Hopscotch framework for birth, Covid-19 visiting restrictions, postnatal care and morbidity, perineal management and bereavement education. Jean retains her clinical experience working one of the Maternity Hospital's satellite antenatal clinics once a week.
